Recipe:
Chinese Yam and Barley Congee
Ingredients:
• Millet = 1000 grams
• Barley = 30 grams
• Chinese Yam = 30 grams
• Lotus Seeds = 15 grams
• Chinese Dates = 10 grams
• Sugar = 30 grams
Method:
Put all the ingredients in the pot and simmer until it becomes a congee. Add in sugar. Ready to serve.

Recipe:
Chinese yam and lotus seed soup
Ingredients:
• Chinese yam = 1 quarter
• Lotus seeds = 50 grams
• Mai Dong (Radix Ophiopogonis) = 10 grams
• Yu Zhu (Polygonati Odorati Rhizoma) = 10 grams
• Rock Sugar to taste
Method:
First, add pre-soaked lotus seeds to water and simmer. When they are half-cooked, add Chinese yam, Yu Zhu, Mai Dong and simmer till everything softens. Finally, add rock sugar to taste.

Recipe:
1) Lily Bulb and White Fungus Soup
Ingredients:
• Chinese yam = 40 grams
• Lily bulb = 40 grams
• White fungus = 20 grams
• Red dates = 10 pieces
• Water = 1 litre
• Rock Sugar to taste
Method:
Soak white fungus in water. Once it's soft, rinse the red dates, Chinese yam and lily bulb clean. Put them all into a slow cooker. Then add 1 litre of water. Leave it to cook overnight on a low heat setting (5-6 hours).
2) Smoked Plum and Olive Tea
Ingredients:
• Smoked plums = 7 pieces
• Olives = 7 pieces
• Water = 2 cups (600 ml)
• Black Sugar to taste
Method:
Take a ceramic pot and put the plums and olives into it. Add 2 cups of water, about 600 ml, heat until boiling, lower the heat and simmer for about 5 minutes.
3) Walnut Congee
Ingredients:
• Walnuts = 15 grams
• Chicken’s Gizzard-skin = 6 grams
• Water as required
• Candied jujubes as required
• White rice as required
Method:
Crush the walnuts and chicken’s gizzard-skin. Put them in a blender with water, and blend. Next, strain the mixture and remove the pulp. Mix the remaining juice with rice, add candied jujubes and simmer till it becomes a congee.

Recipe:
Lotus Leaf and Winter Melon tea
Ingredients:
• Dried lotus leaves = 12 grams
• Dried winter melon peel = 24 grams
• Water = 500 ml
Method:
Mix dried lotus leaves and winter melon peel together, add 500 ml of boiling water, and steep. Drink as a tea when the mixture is cooler.

Recipe:
1) Black Chicken and American Ginseng Soup
Ingredients:
• American ginseng = 5 grams
• Black chicken = 1
• Shiitake mushrooms = 6 pieces
• Dried orange peel = 5 grams
• Candied jujubes = 3 pieces
Method:
Rinse all the ingredients, add the appropriate amount of water. Simmer for 60 to 90 minutes.
2) Longan and Spina-Date Seeds Drink
Ingredients:
• Dried longan flesh = 10 grams
• Spina-date seeds = 10 grams
• Gorgon euryale seeds = 12 grams
• Water = 600 ml
Method:
Add water to all the ingredients. Heat the water till it boils, and after 5 minutes, lower the heat and simmer for about 20 minutes. Strain the mixture and drink.

Recipe:
1) Herbal bath
Ingredients:
• Gui Zhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus) = 30 grams
• Ji Xue Teng (Spatholobus Suberectus) = 30 grams
• Ru Xiang (Olibanum Gummi) = 15 grams
• Mo Yao (Myrrh) = 15 grams
• Bai Zhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix) = 15 grams
• Dried papaya = 30 grams
• Su Mu (Sappan Lignum) = 15 grams
• Wei Ling Xian (Clematidis Radix) = 15 grams
• Shen Jin Cao (Lycopodti herba) = 30 grams
• Water = 5 litres
Method:
Add all the herbs to 5 litres of plain water. Soak them for about 30 minutes. Then bring the water to a boil over high heat. When the water is boiling, reduce the heat and simmer for about 1 hour. When the herbal mixture is ready, pour into separate hand and foot basins. Now you can
steam your hands and feet for about 15 minutes. When the temperature of the bath is milder, you can soak your hands and feet in the basins, for another 15 minutes or so.
2) Lotus Root, Chinese Yam and Mai Dong (Radix Ophiopogonis) drink
Ingredients:
• Lotus root = 1 part
• Fresh Chinese yam = 1/4 piece
• Lemon = 1/4
• Mai Dong (Radix Ophiopogonis) = 15 grams
Method:
Soak Mai Dong in water. Set Aside. Remove the skin from washed Chinese yam and cut the yam into long pieces. Cut the lotus root into long pieces as well. Juice the Chinese yam and lotus root in a juicer. Then add Mai Dong that has been soaked for 30 minutes with the soaking water
into the mixture and blend. Add lemon juice for flavour.

Recipe:
1) Rose Tea
Ingredients:
• Dried roses = 6 grams
• Dried chrysanthemums = 9 grams
Method:
Steep the roses and chrysanthemums in boiling water for 5 minutes, and the tea is ready.
2) Huang Qi and Red Date Drink
Ingredients:
• Huang Qi = 30 grams
• Red dates = 30 grams
Method:
Simmer the ingredients in two bowls of water for 20 minutes. Divide the tea into two portions,
to drink in the morning and at night.
3) Sha Shen and Yu Zhu Soup
Ingredients:
• Yu Zhu = 9 grams
• Sha Shen = 9 grams
• Dried lily bulb = 9 grams
• Lean pork = 100 grams
Method:
Stew all the ingredients in a pot placed in water for 1 hour, and the soup is ready.

Recipe:
Wolfberry, Red Date, Celery and Pork Soup
Ingredients:
• Lean meat (cut into pieces) = 150 grams
• Celery = 200 grams
• Wolfberries = 30 grams
• Red dates = 10 pieces
• Water = 600 ml
Method:
First, add lean pork to boiling water and let it cook for about 10 minutes. Then add the other ingredients. After 20 minutes of simmering, the soup may be served.

Eu Yan Sang Clinics is 10!
Eu Yan Sang Clinics steps up its pledge to care for mankind by sponsoring nutritious lunches for the elderly under the care of its adopted charity, Thye Hua Kwan Moral Society (THK), as part of our 10th Anniversary campaign. This initiative, ‘Meals on Wheels’, sees participation from more than 70 physicians, clinic assistants, staff and management at THK Home Help Service East to prepare, pack and deliver food to 140 elderly, on top of spending quality time with them. ‘Meals on Wheels’ aims to benefit frail elderly who are part of the THK Home Help Service East.

In conjunction with our 10th year anniversary, we have adopted Thye Hua Kwan Moral Society (THK) as our beneficiary. Donation boxes have been placed in our clinics islandwide. As a gesture of support, Mr Richard Eu (Group CEO, Eu Yan Sang International) and Mr Lee Kim Siang (Chairman, Thye Hua Kwan Moral Society) made the first symbolic donation at our clinic in South Bridge Road on 26 June 2012.
From now till the end of the year, come by our clinics and drop your donations into the boxes! Eu Yan Sang Clinics will top up an additional 10% of the total sum collected.
